International Symposium on Natural Disaster Impacts to Large
Industrial Parks 2015

Date: March 11-12, 2015

Venue: Room No. 703, Nakanoshima Center of Osaka University

       http://www.onc.osaka-u.ac.jp/

Social: A social will be held from 17:30 on March 11th, 2015 at Cultural Salon located at 9th floor of Nakanoshima CenterFee: 2,000 Yen except for invited speakers and students

Sponsorship: Graduate School of Engineering, Osaka University

Port and Airport Research Institute

Disaster Prevention Research Institute, Kyoto University

Objectives:

Oil storage tanks in industrial parks were heavily damaged by large scale tsunami, and large-scale oil spills occurred, which led to fire in entire city area, after Great East Japan earthquake on March 11, 2011. Much more larger scale disasters of damages and hazardous materials releases will be estimated in Tokyo Bay, Ise Bay or Osaka Bay if Tokai-Tonankai-Nankai earthquake simultaneously occurs. It is very urgent to perform risk assessment of damages and hazardous materials releases caused not only by large scale earthquake and tsunami, but also by large scale hurricane or typhoon, and take countermeasures to decrease such disasters. This symposium is aiming at bridging across researchers, administrative bodies, and industries in the interdisciplinary fields from the worldwide viewpoint, and advancing the safety of coastal area in the world.

Topics:

²  Reports of damages caused by large scale earthquake, tsunami and hurricane or typhoon in various countries

²  Risk assessment of oil and gas spill from industrial parks caused by large scale earthquake, tsunami and hurricane or typhoon

²  Hardware and software countermeasures for decrease of risk of oil spill by large scale earthquake, tsunami, typhoon or hurricane from oil storage tanks in industrial parks from the aspects of technology, designing, operation, evacuation information and regulation

²  Other related topics
