Packet Structure, continued...
- 168 bits. Longer is allowed by letting a packet cross slot boundaries.
- Content varies but always starts with message identifier (6 bits) and DTE/DI flags (2 bits).
- The message identifier gives information about:
- Communication State (SOTDMA, ITDMA).
- The DTE (Data Terminal Ready) flag indicates that an application is connected to the user interface.
- The DI (Data Indicator) flag indicates that the station has data to send, other than periodical reports.
