Background
and
Objective
This workshop started as the RIAM (Research Institute for Applied Mechanics) Symposium which had been held for more than 10 years at Kyushu University, and after Professor Masashi Kashiwagi moved to Osaka University, this workshop was modified a little and held at Osaka University in 2012 and 2013 as International SOE (Ship and Ocean Engineering) Meeting for students and young researchers in Japan, Korea, and China. From 2015, we decided that this workshop will be hosted in turn among Korea, China, and Japan, and thus Seoul National University hosted this workshop in 2015 and Shanghai Jia Tong University hosted in 2016. Then, it was held in 2017 in Osaka again, in 2018 in Dalian, and in 2019 in Seoul. Through this workshop, we can expect the cultivation of intercultural competencies and sensitivities to other cultures among students, young researchers, and faculty members. Any student and faculty in Chinese, Japanese and Korean universities (but not limited) can participate in this international event.

The objective of this workshop is basically the same as that of the previous RIAM Symposia, providing a forum to discuss the progress of the research in detail, exchange information and know-hows in computations or experiments, and get acquainted with participants each other. As a principle, the meeting must be rather small in size but will be informal and friendly. Thus younger researchers (especially students) are highly encouraged to participate and the organizer wishes they will be inspired to study more and to be international, particularly through friendly but competitive interactions with students in other countries.

If you are concerned with the technical program and the presentation materials (Power Points) in the past, please visit the home page for the SOE Meeting in 2013 and also the home page for the SOE Meeting in 2017 (See the link at the top of the homepage).

Support This Workshop will be financially supported by Osaka University, but this year I don't think you will need support for travel, because we will have this meeting using the Zoom due to COVID-19 infection spread.
