Background
and
Objective
What we call "RIAM Symposium" on various topics, mainly focussing on free-surface hydrodynamics, has been held for more than 10 years at RIAM (Research Institute for Applied Mechanics) Kyushu University. Unfortunately, however, because of change in the research strategy at RIAM, the RIAM Symposium cannot be continued in the same style as an international one. Thus, as an alternative, we decided to start the international SOE (Ship and Ocean Engineering) Research Exchange Meeting among Japan, Korea and China, and this year it will be hosted by Osaka University, Professor Masashi Kashiwagi.
The objective of this meeting is basically the same as that of the previous RIAM Symposia, providing a forum to discuss the progress of the research in detail, exchange know-hows in computations or experiments, and get acquainted with participants each other. As a principle, the meeting must be rather small in size but will be informal and friendly. Thus younger researchers (including students) are highly encouraged to participate and the organizer wishes they will be inspired to study more and to be international.

Support This meeting will be financially supported by the Division of Global Architecture, Osaka University, but the total budget is actually not enough. If the financial support is a must for your participation, please consult the organizer in advance.

Accommodation There are some accommodation facilities available in or near the campus, but at present there is no information on how many rooms we will be able to reserve. Once notified, the information will be announced, but if there are not enough rooms, some of participants should stay at hotels, for which the information will be announced as well.

Application Please send an email to Professor Masashi Kashiwagi, with the following information:
1) Title of your talk
2) Name of speaker, affiliation, position
3) E-mail address, Tel and Fax of the corresponding person
4) Do you need travel support?
5) Other requests; e.g. hotel, the date of presentation

Note: Just attending will also be welcome.
Note: No need to prepare a written paper, Power Point presentation is preferable.
Note: Whether the travel support is available depends on the number of requests.
